The follow-up to the Royal Canadian Mint’s Multilayered Beaver (2025), this large-format 99.99% pure silver coin elevates Emanuel Hahn’s 10-cent Bluenose coin design, transforming it into an immersive scene through the magic of Multilayered Engraving. While several key details—including a new, symbolic wave pattern—are engraved onto the upper surface like a typical coin, cut-outs expose a secondary layer of art beneath, adding visual depth to this familiar seascape.
Made possible by Multilayered Engraving: By layering the artwork and unlocking an additional surface within, this innovative technique adds dimensional depth to Emanuel Hahn’s classic Bluenose design and infuses it with modern vitality.
· Pioneered by the Royal Canadian Mint’s R&D researchers, Multilayered Engraving unlocks additional design space by engraving behind the top plate and on the coin’s interior surface.
· A sky background adds a cinematic quality to this dimensional seascape, while the wavy patterns—curvilinear on the reverse, radiant on the obverse—consist of 10 lines for 10 cents.
· Only 1,750 coins available worldwide—a very low mintage due to the complex minting process.
