BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
The Artist:
“I love the beaver as one of Canada’s iconic symbols, because it represents both our history and our character. These amazing creatures were central to the fur trade, which helped shape early Canada and its economy. Their ability to build dams and change their environment reflects the hardworking and creative nature of this very unique-looking mammal. Having the beaver on our coins really shows how much we value this animal, and what an awesome part of our heritage it is.” – Steve Hepburn, Artist
