SPECIAL FEATURES

·         A Toonie celebration. Celebrate 30 years of Canada’s beloved Toonie with the 2026 Collector’s Edition Non-Circulation $2 Coin! It’s more than just a coin—it’s a tribute to 30 years of history and innovation.

·         Minted in Winnipeg. Inside each Special Wrap Roll, every coin bears the “W” mint mark indicating it was proudly struck at our Winnipeg facility, which turns 50 in 2026. That “W” serves as a double celebration—for the Toonie that has only ever been minted in Winnipeg, and for the facility that has produced all of Canada’s circulation coinage since 1976.

·         Collect by the roll. Each Special Wrap Roll contains 25 $2 coins, all bundled together in a custom paper wrap.

·         A collector exclusive. These coins are classified as collectibles and aren’t intended for circulation—you won’t find them in your pocket change.

·         A view of the obverse design, visible on one or both ends of the roll.  Each coin included in the Special Wrap Roll has a reverse and obverse design. The production process and quality assurance for uncirculated Special Wrap Rolls allows for either the obverse design on both ends, or the reverse design on one end and the obverse on the other. It is not possible for the Mint to guarantee or foresee which of the two versions will be shipped.

DESIGN

The reverse design by Canadian artist Brent Townsend features the classic image of an adult polar bear on an Arctic ice floe. Double-dated (“1996-2026”) to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Canada’s $2 coin, the obverse features the “W” mint mark of the Royal Canadian Mint’s Winnipeg facility and the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
